Many of the good feelings I have had were generated while watching others succeed at their dreams. In as much as I enjoy seeing others succeed, a much greater love for me is to work with people toward achieving their success.

Since my arrival here in Nashville in May 1979, I have had the opportunity to see many musicians and singers come and go. Most of them would have given just about anything to have heard their music on the radio or play the "big stage" just once. There are entertainers who, through persistence, find success; and then there are those entertainers who, for whatever reason, have the uncanny ability to rise above the rest and be that "someone special." An "artist" who far exceeds the expectations of today's modern music biz. An entertainer for entertainers, if you will... an "ICON!"

I have recorded my music business history in the chapters to follow. This is my story. The trials of a musician looking for true musical freedom and happiness. Looking for that "special" artist or "mega-star" to be. An artist with which one could work to fulfill his career as a musician. Many readers will be familiar with the many dozens of artists, band members, and music biz names that will be heard, mentioned, and referred to throughout this book. These people are all held together by a common thread, leading myself to, eventually, implementing and securing a position with Country Music's Newest Icon, Shania Twain.

For many people this would seem an impossible dream. What's more intriguing than that, however, is how someone might discern who is and isn't going to make it in this music biz. In many cases, it's a roll of the dice. But in Shania's case, and a lot of others mentioned in this book, it has everything to do with anything else but luck. This book is meant to be entertaining and informative. I have presented the facts, as I recall them, with a slightly modest interpretation. This is my perception of my story. A part of this story is already known around the world. Shania Twain has become the hottest item in the music biz in many, many years! The roles that the people in this book play in Shania's career are relevant... but very small, compared to the overall "big picture."
